Any SEO for using a keyword extension in a domain name?

I keep seeing these new domain extensions like .guru, .hosting, .market and things like that.

Is there any SEO benefit for using one of those new domain extensions?

I was looking into this last year (2016) and found out that Google states that the domain extension is ignored and is not a ranking factor as long as you are talking about Generic TLD's.

If you have a country code extension like .co.uk then you will get a slight amount of positive SEO for the search results in that location.
