Facebook happens to be one of the best paid traffic sources till date when it comes to behavioural advertising. I don't think there is any traffic source around that gives you so many options to target their audience. There is a lot of money to be made with fb ads.

Just from my experience, FB charges around $10 per 1,000 ad impressions but I read that it would take close to 25,000 before your website will see any activity. They control which websites get their traffic. Which I think is a waste of money.

You are right, if you are going to promote your sites via Facebook then it is a bit more difficult, but if you are selling products directly via Facebook, their ad could help.
